Earlier this week, I discovered with great excitement that Amulet books has announced the release of Jeff Kinney’s installment in his bestselling series: Diary of a Wimpy Kid Book 6 — Cabin Fever . Currently, Cabin Fever is available for pre-order on Amazon.com for 20 percent off list price. (I like to pre-order my favorite books because Amazon will refund the difference if the price drops between the pre-order date and the ship date (for any book that qualifies for Amazon’s pre-order guarantee.) So pre-ordering is convenient AND I know I’ll get the best price possible.
I started out buying the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books for my now 10-year-old son–which makes sense, considering this series is for kids, right? But I soon found the Jeff Kinney really has it goin’ on in the humor department! I enjoy reading these books at least as much as my son does. A lot of the situations Greg Heffley gets himself into really are hilarious and really do remind me of what it was like to be in middle school. (Some of those situations STILL pertain to my life, now that I think about it. Hmmm…)
The cover of Cabin Fever shows Greg freaking out as he stares out a window as the snow that’s falling starts piling up. Greg’s little brother Manny is standing right next to him–as short as ever and looking completely unconcerned. We can surmise that Cabin Fever will relate Greg’s experiences being stuck in a cabin with his family–presumably during winter break when he’s not expected to be at school. In our minds, we can almost see the nasty tricks Roderick will play on Greg out of sheer boredom, what wonderful (and exciting) activities Greg’s mom will come up with to keep her boys busy, and what lengths Greg’s dad will go to in order to get his mind off it all. *Sigh*
On one hand, I’m disappointed to have to wait so long for Cabin Fever’s release. On the other hand, I’m pretty grateful that Wimpy Kid Book 6 will be releasing well in time for the holidays….not that I’ll be able to wait that long to read it. 🙂
